Mentors Matter Nominates the Schillings with RSVP

Each year a R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Persons) Station is asked to nominate a Volunteer of the Year who has been an asset to the program.  This year, Al & Yolanda Schilling of Parkesburg, PA were among the nominees that were honored at the annual R.S.V.P luncheon held at Radley Run Country Club on March 22, 2006.  The Schillings are mentors with Mentors Matter, a faith based intergenerational mentoring program that pairs older adults with middle school aged students in the Octorara area.

Mentors Matter Director, Laura Wilson states that, “the Schillings have been so wonderful with the students who they mentor.  They have made homemade pizza and candies with them, taken them fishing, bowling and just been there as an encouragement.  We really appreciate all that the Schillings have given to the kids and also to the Mentors Matter program.”
