Everyone had a great time at this month’s Mentor Mentee Mixer.  We were glad to have a new mentee, Kevin Ferguson join us, along with another new mentee Ashley Pate, and Tom & Kayla Dorscheimer and Travis Butler.  The kids had a great time doing the Human Treasure Hunt and there was a tie for 1st place with Kayla Dorscheimer and Ilene Franklin both winning and each receiving a $20.00 gift certificate to Peppercorns Restaurant.

Presentations were made by Director Laura R. Wilson on the upcoming events; the Mentors Matter Fund Raiser at Rider’s Restaurant on March 17th, our next family outing, bowling at Strike & Spare in Oxford on Sunday, March 19th and also our Mentor Recognition Dinner coming in May. Additional presentations were made by Community Outreach Coordinator and Mentor Terry Burkey on opportunities at the Harrison House, Gap Pregnancy Center and also bringing to the Mentors Matter Board the possibility of Adopting-A-Highway.

Activities Coordinator, Debbie Knight spoke on the various activities that mentors can do with their mentees, upcoming activities and a challenge to the program participants to write something special for the new website created by Mentor David Knight and his mentee T.J. Dorscheimer.  The Knights have also offered a special prize for the best submission and mentees will be able to receive an additional 2 hours for their Community Outreach!

Mentors and mentees were asked to write up their biographies for the website which will soon be posted and also program participants can contact mentor David Knight at david@mentorsmatter.org  if they would like their own personalized e-mail with the program.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed a lunch of meatball sandwiches, tossed salad and ice cream for dessert and then the kids took advantage of rec time in the gym.
